ESSAY EXCERPT

Self surveillance is something we learnt as teens, when the ghosts of Friday night’s mistakes were posted online without our consent. When announcements of our teen slagulations were discussed through private messages, messages that would later be displayed as a public status by the meaner girl who had hacked your account. Our selfies were the first of their kind relative to the history of visual language, documentation of our pubescent obsessions.
